What to wear with clogs in Australia
Clogs go with almost anything loose and easy: wide-leg trousers, midi skirts, linen shorts and relaxed denim. In Australia you can wear them bare-legged through a mild summer evening and with socks once the weather cools.
Clogs with trousers
Let wide or straight-leg trousers break just above the clog, so the shape of the shoe still shows. Linen in summer and heavier cotton or wool in winter both work. Tailored trousers with a plain tee make clogs look deliberate enough for a casual office.
Clogs with skirts and dresses
A rounded clog balances a midi skirt or a slip dress. Keep the rest simple: one plain top, one bag. Lighter clog colours sit softly with cream, sand and olive, and a dark brown pair gives a plain dress more weight.
Clogs with shorts
Tailored or linen shorts look better with clogs than sporty ones. It is an easy weekend look for women and men, and it holds up for a walk to brunch.
Should you wear socks with clogs?
It is up to you and the weather. Bare feet feel right in warm months. In Melbourne or Hobart winters, a ribbed sock in white, cream or a colour picked from your outfit makes clogs a cold-weather shoe too. An open-back clog also slips on and off quickly at home.
Which clog should I choose?
Our Soria clog has a cow leather inner, an EVA outsole and a buckle you can adjust. It comes in three colours and sizes 35 to 45, so it works for women and men, and it costs $59.90 AUD at the time of writing with free delivery in Australia.
Are clogs dressy enough for going out?
They suit casual dinners, markets, galleries and weekend lunches. For a dressier evening, look at a wedge or a crossed-strap sandal instead. Our guide to slides, two-strap sandals and clogs compares the shapes.
